Keto Diet
The ketogenic (keto) diet, a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet with adequate amounts of protein, appears to sensitize most cancers by exploiting the reprogramed metabolism of cancer cells, making the diet a promising candidate as an additional cancer therapy. The goal of keto is to alter the metabolism of cancer cells by decreasing glucose and increasing ketones as available energy sources.
It is thought that the ketogenic diet creates an unfavorable metabolic environment for cancer cells and thus can be regarded as a promising additional therapy.
