We will be at the Walkway Over The Hudson for a bench dedication in memory of, Glio Leo Founder, Shelby Kennedy on Saturday, May 6th at 12:00pm.
The Walkway Over the Hudson spans the Hudson River and connects the City of Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County with the Town of Lloyd and hamlet of Highland in Ulster County, New York. Entrances are located at 87 Haviland Road in Highland, New York and 61 Parker Avenue in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Join us for the dedication of a bench in Shelby’s memory located at the center of the walkway.
May 6th is a special day for us as it is also National Monarch Butterfly day (see our logo) and is part of Gray May. We hope this event and memorial will help raise awareness of GBM and support for those affected.
Tram service will be available for those needing assistance to travel to the center of the bridge.
Event Details:
We will meet at the Poughkeepsie Parking lot at the paved courtyard (61 Parker Avenue Poughkeepsie) at 12:00pm. Guests can park in either of the two lots, one is paved and one is dirt (not owned by the Walkway).
There will be a brief presentation and welcome from the Walkway Deputy Director, Diane Haight. After this, we walk out to the center of the bridge where the bench is located.
Tram service will be available for anyone not wishing to walk. The walk takes about 20 minutes. Weather is looking fine on Saturday so the walk should be pleasant.
Once we arrive at the bench, it will be covered with a blue cloth, we gather around the bench area (this is a standing event) and unveil the bench. Diane and members of Shelby’s family will give brief speeches followed by a plaque presentation and some photos.
Guests are encouraged to walk the walkway and enjoy the views. If the weather is good, expect patrons, bicyclists and dogs on the bridge, sharing the Walkway with us.
